My partner and I stayed in The Retreat for a long weekend and had a lovely quiet and chilled getaway. The site is perfect for people looking to get a quiet relaxing getaway! The hot tub was amazing & the outdoor lighting and seating area was beautiful. The road/path leading up to the lodges were beautifully lit with lights which aided getting back to the lodge at night but was also visually pleasing. The quietness of the site is perfect and you can literally hear nothing but the sound of birds or occasional cows from the farm next door! The lodge itself was modern, clean and tidy and very spacious with the addition of modern facilities such as a dishwasher and coffee machine. The Retreat owners were pleasant, lovely & happy to help if needed. Upon arrival we were greeted by the manager and showed to our lodge, which offered a box of chocolates and complimentary slippers which was a very nice touch and were very much appreciated! We have read some reviews saying that there aren’t many places such as restaurants near by but it can be appreciated that the site is currently under development and such facilities will be added at a later date. If you have a car it’s no bother to drive for days out or a takeaway which can be anything from 15 minutes to an hour, which wasn’t an inconvenience for us, as we enjoyed the countryside journey! We visited Exmoor Zoo, which was about a half an hour drive, but was an ideal day out for us. I wouldn’t say the rural location of The Retreat is a negative aspect of the site as it only added to the atmosphere of a quiet relaxed getaway! My partner and I had an amazing weekend and will definitely be returning! Thank you so much for accommodating for us for a spectacular long weekend! Best of luck for the development that is yet to come!
Stayed here from the 12/08/19 till the 19/08/19 with my family. We all had a fantastic time. The lodge - Clean, comfortable, modern, and well maintained. We had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The hot tub - Clean and hot, checked daily by the maintenance man. The park - Quiet and peaceful, left alone to enjoy the holiday. No on site shop or bar so take everything you need. The location - The park is set out in the country side, it’s about a 15 minute drive to South Molton. In South Molton there is a Sainsbury’s, some cafes, a few pubs, and a few takeaways to choose from. Quince honey bee farm is also located here which we visited when the weather wasn’t so good. During our stay we visited Woolacombe and Ilfracombe which are around an hours drive from the retreat. Woolacombe is more for surfers and beach goers. While Ilfracombe is more of a family friendly seaside resort along with a nice harbour and some smaller beaches. We also visited Tiverton Grand Western Canal and rented a little boat, which was a nice day out and around a 40 minute drive from the lodge. Really enjoyed our stay at the retreat and we enjoyed our holiday and what the surrounding area had to offer. Not sure what the maintenance man was called but he was a friendly man and happy to help. Thank you.
Went with My wife and teenage children (and dog!) over the new year, had a fantastic time, the lodge was spotlessly clean and a lot more luxurious than I anticipated. Brilliant location, local pubs superb for food and drink, and all very welcoming (including dog!) Have to say was a bit wary of some of the other reviews before booking, but honestly I can't believe what some people moan about!Peaceful, stunning scenery, great accommodation, fantastic location, great places to visit including exmoor and a hot tub to relax in at the end of the day! Had a great time,
Very warm and clean. Some of the facilities were falling apart. Hot tub took 15 hours to heat up to a usable temperature. Parking was difficult due to slopes and gravel. No communal facilities, no walks found close to site.Still plenty of work to be done on the site before it is actually what it advertises.
Very peaceful and relaxing
